Background:
In early cauliflower, the market price remain high but productivity is very low (10-12 t/ha) which limits the farmers’ income. The curds of early varieties appear to be loose and of cream colour which fetch less market price. Further, the varieties in cauliflower are very specific to temperature requirement for curd initiation and formation. There is a gap for suitable varieties during October end to November first week and having white, compact and medium size. Technology Details:
Pusa Kartiki is a high yielding variety of Early maturity group of Indian cauliflower. The curds are semi-dome shaped, white and compact with average weight of 650-750 g. It attracts consumers and has curd characters which can fetches higher market prices. It is suitable for sowing during second fortnight of June and transplanting during second fortnight of July to first week of August under north Indian plain conditions. Its maturity period is end of October 1st fortnight of November and marketable yield potential is 20-22 t/ha. It is recently released by SVRC for Delhi NCR region and notified by CVRC.
